From students to presidents, The Tavern is one of Austin’s iconic spots to grab a bite to eat. The couple that runs Esther’s Follies used to own The Tavern back in the 70’s and has now bought it back! They’re changing up the menu and making it chef-driven. I’m sharing a few of their new dishes with my friends at We Are Austin on KEYE CBS Austin. Watch the full segment here.
First, I’m showing you some perfect shareables to enjoy with the table or munching on yourself (I don’t blame you for choosing the latter). Shown above are their deliciously crisp Sausage and Sauerkraut Balls. These poppables are rolled up with cream cheese and served with honey mustard and ooey gooey beer cheese for dipping. Next up are the saucey Beer Braised Pork Ribs served with thin-cut shoestring potatoes and carrot slaw, shown below. They are fall off the bone tender and sweet and tangy. Their bright and vibrant Golden and Red Beet Salad with fried goat cheese is a fan favorite. Perfect to nibble on in this warm weather!
