Tanji Talks: Houston Restaurant Picks & H-E-B Wine

Houston is known for being a culinary hotspot when it comes to dining – it’s a challenge to keep up with all of the new restaurants opening! Today I share some of my favorite, yet affordable, restaurant picks, plus great wine finds from H-E-B. Watch the segment here for a peek at the South African-inspired Peli Peli Kitchen and the zesty Cajun seafood at Shell Shack, and find my wine picks below.

My Wine Finds

Fall is the perfect time of year for slightly more complex wines with juicy fruits, smoky undertones and buttery finishes. Check out my picks below and remember that you can find all of these bottles at your local H-E-B:

First, I have a Trentadue La Storia petite sirah. This luscious wine tastes of dark, juicy berries like blueberries and blackberries and has a smooth finish. Drink it alongside grilled meats, like a charred steak or a bone-in pork chop crusted with spices. $40

Next is the Layer Cake Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine is aged in bourbon barrels for a few months giving it hints of caramel and vanilla. A perfect pair for spicy dishes. $15

Lastly, I have Louis Jadot Pouilly-Fuissé French chardonnay. If you like a big, buttery chardonnay, this one’s for you. Sip it with richer seafood dishes. $25
