Grab a glass, it’s time for my H-E-B wine finds. In this weekend’s BRAND NEW episode, we share three must-try bottles that are delicious and surprisingly affordable. Entertaining a big crew of wine drinkers? These quality budget bottles are for you. As always, you can get all of these picks at your local H-E-B.
First, we have a wine that offers a little relief from the heat: the Broadbent Vinho Verde. Vinho Verde is a Portuguese wine known for its bright acidity, citrusy notes and slight effervescence. The grapes grow in acid-rich granite-based soils so they have a touch of minerality. Eric Asimov of the New York Times called this wine, “cheap and cheerful” – I say cheers to that! For the price, you will want to buy six of this fantastic find. $7
Next, a fantastic rosé in a beautiful bottle. The Protea Dry Rosé is made with southern Rhone varietals (think slightly dry with a hint of cherries and strawberries). This is a lovely wine that can pair with almost anything – rosés are so versatile. $15
Last but not least, this bottle will be your any-occasion cabernet this fall: the Giapoza Cabernet Sauvignon. This cab, made with Napa fruit, caught my attention because it over delivers on flavor for it’s crazy-reasonable price. You’ll taste black currants, blackberries, and a hint of cocoa – it is really smooth and a super deal. $17
As always, you can find these bottles and more at your local H-E-B. Bonus: When you buy six or more wines, you’ll get 10% off your whole wine purchase!
