Here in Texas, we’re best known for our darn good barbecue. There are so many great spots stoking their smokers around the state that Texas Monthly releases a list every year of their Top 50 picks. A place on this list is highly coveted and Hays Co. Bar-B-Que in San Marcos has earned their spot since 2013! I visit my friends at We Are Austin and share some of my favorite sides and smokey meats from Hays Co., plus something to wash it down. Watch the segment here!
My Wine Finds:
The Sauvion Rosé D Anjou is from France’s Loire Valley. It is slightly fruit-forward with very low-alcohol. Rosé pairs with just about anything, but this goes nicely with smoke and spice. $13
While we talk a lot about wine here at Goodtaste, we’re also big fans of craft beer. Alltech’s Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale has delicate notes of vanilla and oak thanks to the bourbon barrels that it is fermented in. This is a great crossover beer for whiskey lovers. $13 for a 4-pack
Zinfandel is always a classic pairing with barbecue and Goldschmidt Fidelity Zinfandel is no exception. I think this is one of the best on the market for the price. It’s fruit-forward and ultra-smooth. $16
As always, thank you to our good friends at KEYE CBS Austin! You can find all of these wines at your local H-E-B or buy them online at HEB.com. Bonus: Get 10% off your entire purchase when you buy six or more bottles.
