Sports are huge here in Texas. No matter what team you’re cheering on, or whatever ball game you’re tuning in for, there’s a place for you to chill and enjoy some gameday bites. I visit my friend Sofia Ojeda at KPRC in Houston and share 3 of my favorites: Jackie’s Brickhouse in Kemah, Texas, The Draft in Kingwood and Magnolia and Thistle Draftshop in Spring. Each of these spots serves up over-the-top sports bar bites and has plenty of TV’s to catch the action. Plus, I have some beer and wine picks from H-E-B that are guaranteed to win big this weekend. Watch the segment here.
Tanji’s Finds:
Up first is the Clown Shoes Pecan Pie Porter. This beer is aged in Bourbon barrels, taking on the vanilla notes of Bourbon. Combined with the nutty, chocolate profile of the porter, this beer tastes like a pecan pie! $12 of a 22oz bottle
Next, is a great grilling wine: The Layer Cake Malbec. You’ll taste dark fruits like blackberries, plus rich earthiness and dark chocolate. Much like its name, this wine has many layers. $15
Last and never least, the Underwood Pinot Gris from Oregon. Not only can you find this in a bottle, but you can also grab this in a can (and for only $5 each!). It’s bright, acidic and will pair with just about anything. $11
As always, thank you to our good friends at KPRC Click2Houston! You can find all of the wine you need to make your own sangria at your local H-E-B or buy online at HEB.com. Don’t forget: Get 10% off your entire purchase when you buy six or more bottles!
