There are so many spots in Texas smoking really good ‘cue and I just found a new favorite to add to your barbecue bucket list. Interstellar BBQ is from the duo behind Noble Sandwich Co. and they serve all of your Texas barbecue staples like brisket, pulled pork, sausages and ribs. You’ll also find house-made condiments like the ones they offer at their sandwich shop. I visited my friends at We Are Austin and shared some of their not-to-miss dishes, PLUS some fantastic H-E-B wine pairings to pick up before you head to this BYOB restaurant. Watch the segment here!
Tanji’s Wine Finds:
First, is the Layer Cake Bourbon Barrel Aged Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine is aged in bourbon barrels, which gives it notes of vanilla and caramel. It smooths out the Cabernet making it very barbecue-friendly. $15
In Texas, we’re lucky to have year-round Rosé weather. This versatile wine pairs with just about anything. The Layer Cake Rosé is crisp and acidic, which cuts the richness of BBQ. $15
Shiraz is always a classic pairing with barbecue, so my last pick is the 3 Rings Shiraz. This is a very fruit-forward wine that pairs perfectly with the spice of smoked meat. On the nose and palate, you get dark fruits like raspberries and blackberries along with black pepper and licorice. $16
As always, thank you to our good friends at KEYE CBS Austin! You can find all of these wines at your local H-E-B or buy them online at HEB.com. Bonus: Get 10% off your entire purchase when you buy six or more bottles.
