We head to the heart of San Antonio to dine at an epic mash-up destination where the food is Southeast Asian-inspired with a dose of Cajun flare. At Pinch Boil House, the must-have Pinch fries are loaded up with a mountain of crab and drizzled with a rich garlic mayo and Sriracha. Instead of the typical creole spices you see in Southern seafood boils, theirs are served with garlic butter, coconut curry or the house “Dragon Sauce”.
Next, we pay a visit to Jonathan’s The Rub, a Houston spot with a chef-owner who’s crafted one-of-a-kind rubs that add a kick to every dish. You’ll see this self-taught chef’s signature flair in dishes like his ultra-cheesy bone-in Veal Parmesan and a butter-soaked Chilean sea bass.
Last, we drive through the Hill Country for a bit of country charm at Navajo Grill in Fredericksburg. You’ll find Southern classics on the menu, but with a clever upgrade. Be sure to try the sausage-stuffed quail with wild rice and jalapeño brown butter and the Old Fashioned made with pickled peach brine from local Fredericksburg peaches.
