With a mix of friends, family and food around your holiday table, it can be hard to decide what wine to serve at your next big get-together. These foolproof bottles will pair beautifully with any food and are accessible for any palate. Find our picks here and remember that everything can be found at your local H-E-B!
Let’s start with the Schloss Vollrads Qualitätswein Riesling. This is not a sweet wine – it’s a dry, racy little riesling. Because of its bright acidity, this wine will pair beautifully with a variety of side dishes and be perfect if you just happen to be serving, say…turkey. You’ll taste notes of grapefruit and lemon with a little pineapple, as well. It’s truly a very good food pairing wine. $18
I’m a big fan of Oregon pinots–they have a ton of finesse and that includes the Domaine Drouhin Roserock Oregon Pinot Noir. This one comes from the highly acclaimed Willamette Valley known for producing stellar pinots. It has a soft, velvety mouthfeel with a luscious balance of blackberries, black cherries and delicate layers of minerality. $34
Next, a wonderful cabernet from right here in Texas made by our friends at Becker Vineyards. The Iconoclast Barrel Select Cabernet is a Bordeaux blend of Cabernet, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot. This is a lovely wine with dark fruit, spice and a hint of coffee on the finish. It’s priced at only $14
As always, all of these bottles (and many more!) can be found at your local H-E-B.
