Let’s be honest, Thanksgiving can be stressful! To help ease the anxiety, there are so many restaurants that offer everything to-go for your feast, like sides, desserts and even the main course! One spot that my family has enjoyed for many years is Rudy’s BBQ. They’re open 365 days a year and have all of your barbecue favorites ready to go, plus a few special items just for the holidays. Did I mention that they have locations all around Texas? I visit my friend Shelly Miles at San Antonio Living and share some of my favorite dishes, as well as some H-E-B wine finds to make your feast even more foolproof. Check out the full segment here!
Tanji’s Wine Picks:
Up first is bubbles. Bubbles are great year-round because they pair with anything but especially this time of year since we have so much to celebrate. Chandon Brut is a great choice. It’s crisp, dry and comes in festive packaging perfect for setting on the table. $20
Up next, if you’re on the hunt for a special Pinot Noir for the holidays, the search can end here! The Joseph Drouhin Côte de Beaune is a classic Burgundian-style Pinot Noir — where Pinot Noirs jumped onto the world stage. It’s a medium-bodied wine with soft tannins and delicately layered with plums, black cherries and raspberries. $48
If you’re a white wine fan and want a classic pairing, too, I’ve got you covered with the Joseph Drouhin Mâcon-Villages. It’s crisp and refreshing with notes of green apple and pear. It’s not heavy in oak notes so it pairs great with food. $16
Next, is the Clone 7 Oakville Cabernet from one of the great regions in Napa. Clone 7 makes different Cabernets from other regions – all with different flavors. With this one, you’ll taste the fruit upfront — lots of big cherries with hints of oak and vanilla. $30
Last, is another classic pairing for the holidays – Bordeaux. This is the Clarendelle Bordeaux. You’d find a bottle like this for about $800-900 in Bordeaux, but you can try it for yourself for a fraction of the price here in Texas. You’ll taste all of the classic Bordeaux notes of dark cherry, plum, tobacco, and a little spice. $18
A special thanks to News 4 WOAI San Antonio Living for all the fun! As always, all of these bottles (and many more!) can be found at your local H-E-B.
