Some people choose big blankets or fuzzy socks to keep warm during the winter but we just need a nice crackling fire and a glass of wine. So hunker down and pop the top on one of these wines sure to warm one up from the inside out. Find my picks here!
Bread & Butter Chardonnay ($14)

Let’s talk Chardonnay. Anything that starts with bread and butter gets my attention, so say hello to the Bread & Butter Chardonnay. This is classic Napa Chardonnay – think crème brûlée with vanilla, a hint of almonds and a buttery, creamy mouthfeel. This wine will compliment chicken dishes or creamy pastas.
Greenwing Duckhorn Cabernet ($21)

Up next, a flavorful wine from the Duckhorn clan – The Greenwing Duckhorn Cabernet. This is a Washington state cab and it’s very different from a Napa cab in that it’s lighter and softer. It’s a bit racy right off the start, then comes alive on the palate with flavors of dark cherries, strawberries, and some warm spices, and finishes with a soft cocoa note.
Juggernaut Hillside Cabernet Sauvignon – Shop Wine at H-E-B ($20)

Last but not least, another wonderful Cabernet – Juggernaut Hillside Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes for this wine come from hillside vineyards in northern California which produce smaller, more intense grapes that are loaded with flavor. This cab is aged in French oak so you get lots of velvety smooth black currants, coffee, cocoa, cassis, and vanilla. This wine is perfect for braised meats and is mellow enough to enjoy all by itself on a cold winter’s night.
As always, all of these bottles (and many more!) can be found at your local H-E-B.
