In these times of keeping apart, many communities are coming together (safely distanced, of course) and finding ways to support each other. Whether it’s turning a little free library into a mini neighborhood food pantry, organizing a drive-past birthday parade, or simply posting a colorful picture in your window to hopefully brighten someone’s day, it’s inspiring to see community members rallying in support of each other. We’ve got a few ideas, too, of great homemade gifts and goods you can share with neighbors and friends. Read on and share the love, friends!

Granola with Figs and Coconut
If you’ve never made homemade granola, don’t be intimidated! It’s super easy to put together and tastes way better than what you can get at the store. We love this recipe, too, because it’s infinitely adaptable to whichever ingredient you have on hand and one that friends and neighbors are always happy to see turn up on their front porch.

Sourdough Bread Starter
Out of yeast? No problem. Start this batch of simple sourdough starter and be sandwich-ready in no time. The recipe calls for dividing the starter numerous times over the course of a week, and instead of discarding it, we like to scoop it into a Mason jar for friends and neighbors to try their own hand at home baking bread.

Homemade Taco Seasoning
Homemade spice blends are some of our favorite DIY gifts, and we especially love this taco seasoning for its adaptable, subtly smoky mix of garlic, cumin, onion, and paprika. Gift with a note that says to shake it on tacos, spoon into a pot of beans, and sprinkle on roast potatoes.

Chocolate-Almond Biscotti
Just because you can’t yet sip tea together with friends doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy some quality tea time. These chocolate-dipped almond biscotti are perfect for dunking into coffee, tea, or cocoa, and made all the better when shared with friends (via Facetime, Hangouts, or Zoom, of course).

Lemon Curd
End up with a bumper crop of lemons this year? Whip up a batch of this tangy lemon curd (which livens up everything from a bowl of plain yogurt to a piece of toast), scoop into decorative jars, and share all around.
