Sticking to your 2021 goals does not mean that you have to avoid wine! Tanji found some new light finds that’ll pair perfectly with your lighter dishes, like salad, chicken and fish! As always, you can get these bottles (and many more!) at your local H-E-B.
Up first, a new wine called Lightly. Their Chardonnay has zero sugar, only 85 calories a glass and is low alcohol at only 9%. This is the perfect wine if you’re giving up a lot of your favorite foods but don’t want to sacrifice that glass of wine. $13
Next, the Hess Family Select Pinot Gris from California. Fresh acidity with bright pineapple and citrus notes, Pinot Grigio pairs well with salads that are lightly dressed and simply prepared veggies. Hess family wines always deliver. $10
The Willamette Valley in Oregon is one of the best regions for domestic Pinot Noir in Tanji’s opinion and that’s true for the Domaine Drouhin Pinot Noir. You’ll get hints of dark cherry and blackberries but also a touch of earthy minerality. This wine will pair with all kinds of dishes, from chicken to seafood and pork, or all by itself. $35
