A new season of Goodtaste with Tanji wouldn’t be complete without brand new wine finds! Savor the last bits of summer with these picks perfect for these late summer and early autumn days. As always, all of these bottles (and many more!) can be found at your local H-E-B.
Since it still feels like summer, I’m starting with a refreshing Sauvignon Blanc from Sonoma, the Dry Creek Fumé Blanc. If you see Fumé Blanc on any bottle, just know it’s a Sauvignon Blanc. This is a lively wine bursting with lemon, lime and grapefruit—perfect for seafood, anything with goat cheese, and fresh salads. $13
Next, if you love Burgundian-style Pinot Noirs, check out the Casa Blanca Nimbus Pinot Noir. This wine is from a beautiful region with deserts, a mediterranean coast and towering mountain ranges: Chile! The wine is somewhat Burgundian in style, with luscious cherry and strawberry notes and a hint of minerality. This is a wonderful wine to pair with pork chops, chicken and even pastas with a fresh tomato sauce. $14
Since you’re likely doing some tailgating and gameday grilling, Tanji chose this delightful Ondarre Rioja Reserva. Tempranillo reigns supreme in Spain and this wine is perfect for anything on the grill—chicken, beef, chorizo…you name it! We’re big fans of Spanish wines. $20
