This weekend, we dive into some truly superb Cajun cooking—and we can’t leave out the wine! This food is full of spice, so Tanji’s sharing her top finds for pairing with everything from crawfish to étouffées, po’boys and more. As always, all of these bottles can be found at your local H-E-B.
Tanji loves white wine with spicy foods, so to kick things off she’s chosen the Remy Pannier Touraine Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire Valley of France. With tropical notes of kiwi and passion fruit, this wine is a perfect pairing for jambalaya, crawfish boils or even a good ol’ shrimp po’boy! $18
Next, a lovely white wine from the beautiful Friuli region in northeast Italy. The Di Lenardo Vineyards Toh! Tocai Friulano—which means surprise—delivers on its name. This wine is beautifully balanced and slightly less acidic than other wines from the region, but with crisp fruit and nice minerality. It will cut through the richest Cajun dishes like etouffée. Break out of your Chardonnay habit and try this new white wine! $12
Last, but not least, a wine that pairs with practically everything–rosé. Here are Goodtaste, we drink rosé all year round and they’re a perfect match for spicy foods. This Le Charmel Côtes de Provence Rosé is dry with hints of strawberry and bright acidity—fantastic characteristics for food. $15
