To celebrate the fall weather and the end of Texas Wine Month, we’re sharing some of our favorite Texas wines for the season. From the Texas Panhandle to the Hill Country, you can find some great bottles right here in our own state. As always, all of these bottles (and many more!) can be found at your local H-E-B.
Up first, a red blend called Skeleton Key from the highly acclaimed William Chris Vineyards in Hye, Texas. This wine is a fantastic bottle to pour with food because of its great acidity, bright notes of bing cherry and subtle vanilla on the finish. It’s also a great winery to visit if you’re in the area! $21
Next, a wine that celebrates the leader of the Texas revolution: Sam Houston. The Federalist Texas Red Blend from McPherson Vineyards in Lubbock is made with grapes from the best vineyards in the Texas High Plains. Soft-textured, rich and balanced with notes of plum, cherry and red licorice, it will pair well with grilled chicken, BBQ and juicy burgers. $20
Who doesn’t love a good porch wine! The Becker Vineyards Viognier from Fredericksburg hits the mark. This award-winning wine has beautiful tropical and floral aromas and you’ll taste peaches, pears and a hint of lemon. Viogniers pair with chicken, shrimp and even Thai food, but this one is lovely all by itself. $11
