We love pumpkin pie as much as you, but this year we’re trying some show-stopping pumpkin desserts that get overlooked during the holiday season. We’ve rounded up a few of our favorites for you, from an airy soufflé to a make-ahead silky custard. Find them all below!
Pumpkin Sheet Cake with Salted Maple Frosting
Our pumpkin sheet cake is the perfect sweet treat for any fall occasion, especially Thanksgiving! This light fluffy cake is incredibly tender and walks the sweet-savory line because of the salted maple buttercream frosting.
Pumpkin Brownies
This recipe from The Cookie Rookie combines two delicious sweets: pumpkin pie and brownies. Using your favorite store-bought brownie mix and layering in pumpkin creates a dense, fudgy brownie.
Flan de Calabaza (Pumpkin Flan)
The Noshery’s pumpkin flan provides a spin on this classic Mexican dessert. The silky custard offers comfort and warmth, and the pumpkin adds a fun fall spin. It’s perfect for any holiday occasion.
Pumpkin Roll
Do you love pumpkin bread? This dessert-ready pumpkin roll cake is tender and moist and has a heavenly cream cheese filling. This recipe made from Gimme Some Oven is perfect in all of its simplicity.
Pumpkin-Dulce De Leche Trifle with Toasted Pecans
This trifle is a great alternative to pie for Thanksgiving! You can make it in a large 4-quart trifle dish, or individual glasses. Make it a few hours in advance and store in the fridge until you’re ready to serve dessert. This dessert is made quick with some of Tanji’s favorite shortcut ingredients: GOYA dulce de leche and HEB Pumpkin bread. (You can replace the HEB pumpkin bread with your favorite store-bought loaf, box mix or made-from-scratch recipe. You will need one 9-by-5-inch loaf.)
Not Your Average Pumpkin Cheesecake Bars
What word comes to mind when we think of these bars from Chelsea’s Apron? STREUSEL.
These are the BEST pumpkin cheesecake bars—a delicious combo of cinnamon graham cracker crust with two layers of cheesecake topped with an easy streusel and caramel sauce. These bars are sure to be a smash hit wherever and whenever you serve them
Spiced-Pumpkin Soufflés with Bourbon and Molasses Sauce
If you are having a smaller Thanksgiving this year, these sky-high soufflés from Epicurious are a celebratory addition to your dinner. Best of all, this airy alternative to pumpkin pie leaves you satisfied, but not stuffed.
Easy Pumpkin Custard
This Pumpkin Custard from Lil Luna is a cinch to prepare and an easy alternative to a homemade pie. It’s rich, creamy and full of pumpkin spice, plus they’re topped with a nutty crumble that adds the perfect amount of crunch.

We watched Derrick & Courtney making the Tres Leche Trifle, but need the recipe telling what besides the Goya dulce de leche was put on the trifle by Derrick. It was sort of brownish looking.
Thank you – Marilyn
