Planning for a special meal this month? Well then, you’ve come to the right place! I’ve got some great wine finds that are going to pair beautifully with a variety of special dishes, from the centerpiece main course to the array of sides. As always, all of these bottles (and many more!) can be found at your local H-E-B.
Up first is the Castle Rock Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley in Oregon. This is a lighter-style Pinot with bright acidity and juicy tart cherries, with some vanilla notes too. It will pair with chicken, pork, and giant holiday turkeys and hams. ($17)
Up next is a classic pairing for a Thanksgiving turkey—the Thomas Schmitt Riesling. This is a Kabinett classification, so it’s a dry Reisling that isn’t sweet. Lively and fresh, this wine is also low in alcohol, making it perfect for a crowd. ($16)
If your family is like mine, they’ll want a Cabernet at the holiday table, since a special meal deserves a special bottle of wine. And Bound + Determined is just that, said to be for those who never give up on their dreams. This is a Napa Cab through and through, with a velvety soft full body and lots of layers of bing cherries and black currants. ($41)
