The turn of the year is a time to celebrate new changes and challenges with a fresh start to the calendar, and while many are setting their resolutions, we’re setting our wine list! If you’re looking for wines to fit a lighter lifestyle or just want to try some new bottles, we’ve got you covered. As always, these picks (and many more!) can be found at your local H-E-B.
If you’re looking for a lighter drinking option in the new year, you’ll definitely want to try the Daou Sauvignon Blanc. Tanji’s been a longtime Daou fan ever since her visit to this Paso Robles winery about 10 years ago. This pick will pair with most anything, from salads to seafood and pastas in light sauces. ($18)
Here’s another light wine, but this one has a touch of sweetness. The Barón de Ley Semi Duce from Rioja in Spain is a Sauvignon Blanc accented with Viura, a very popular grape in Spain often used in blends. You can pair this wine with spicy food or serve it for dessert! ($15)
If you’re a regular H-E-B shopper, you’ve probably noticed a new line of wines from the Welcome to Wine Company. Here, we’re saying hello to this light-in-style, slightly fruit-forward Welcome to Spain Red Blend, with a hint of cinnamon on the finish. ($12)
