It’s finally time! The great North American solar eclipse will happen April 8th and cities from Texas to Maine are hosting viewing parties and events to make the most of the moment. Texas Hill Country just so happens to fall smack dab in the middle of the path of totality and that’s good news for all of us! There are countless eclipse-viewing parties along the path of totality (check out the path here). Below are some, but certainly not all, notable events across Texas where you can view this once-in-a-lifetime event in all its glory. Don’t miss it! According to NASA, this will be the last total solar eclipse to go over the United States for two decades.
Please note: This is just a sampling to show you some of the many events happening on April 8th, eclipse day. So many of Texas’s best wineries fall along the path of totality. Many wineries, restaurants, and even whole towns and cities are hosting eclipse-viewing parties and events. William Chris Vineyards
10352 U.S. Highway 290, Hye
This world-class vineyard in Hye, Texas is going all out for the solar eclipse. The vineyard is hosting a viewing party with astronomer-led lessons, wine tastings, a country music concert, and more. Tickets are priced at $400 – and worth it! The ticket price includes a glass of wine, parking, picnic blanket, solar eclipse glasses, event poster, swag bag with two bottles of eclipse wine, and breakfast and lunch prepared by Austin chef Michael Fojtasek of Olamaie. Uplift Vineyard
1411 Co Rd 119, Burnet
Situated along the path of totality, Uplift Vineyard in Burnet, Texas is hosting an all-day event that will feature brunch and dinner cooked by live fire by James Beard Award-Winner Jesse Griffiths of critically acclaimed restaurant Dai Due. The day will also have a master blending session with winemaker Jean Hoefliger and Uplift winemaker Claire Richardson. Guests will receive two bottles of Uplift Eclipse red wine, which is a limited production bottle made for the eclipse. There will be an astronomer on site giving eclipse talks, and surprises and gifts from Uplift Vineyards. Tickets are $925 per person and can be purchased here. Grapevine, Texas
Head to historic Grapevine for a stunning view of the total eclipse. Families are invited to gather in Grapevine’s parks, the Main Street District or Nash Farm to watch the eclipse. The eclipse will begin at 12:23 p.m. In Grapevine, the total solar eclipse starts at 1:41 p.m. and lasts until 1:43 p.m. The eclipse will come to an end (in Grapevine) at 3:02 p.m. There will be themed music throughout the Main Street District, costumed galactic characters, and galactic-themed food and drink specialties at restaurants and businesses.
Grapevine will also have a VIP experience that will give guests access to Peace Plaza for front-row seats to live music, food and drinks with a $60 card to use at Harvest Hall, and a swag bag filled with eclipse souvenirs. Grapevine Vintage Railroad will also offer two one-hour trips on the day of the eclipse. The train will depart at 9:50 a.m. and 11:50 a.m. Tickets are $25 per person. Book here.
Ron Yates Wines

Ron Yates Wines is hosting a solar eclipse party for this once-in-a-lifetime event where you can view the eclipse in the beautiful Hill Country skies! There will be wine tastings, food, a game area with horseshoes, bocce ball, and corn hole, live music and more. Guests are encouraged to bring camping chairs and blankets. Entry for the day begins at 8 a.m. General admission tickets for $125 per person include breakfast tacos and coffee upon entry, a glass of wine in a commemorative eclipse wine glass, eclipse viewing glasses, and a paella lunch. There is a $250 VIP package which includes a breakfast buffet upon entry, a pig roast for lunch, a tented lounge, a bottle of wine, private bar with access to exclusive wines, and a VIP bathroom trailer. Angelita Vineyard & Winery

Head to Angelita Vineyard & Winery in Corsican for their eclipse-viewing party. The 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. event includes lunch, live music with Sandy Bates, a commemorative eclipse wine glass, a commemorative solar eclipse T-shirt, viewing glasses, and access to anywhere on the property for your own personal best view. Fall Creek Vineyards

Come to Fall Creek Vineyards in Tow, Texas to experience the great North American eclipse in style. The event is open to the public and includes premium seating for eclipse viewing, a seated boxed lunch, parking and viewing glasses. The box lunch includes souvlaki style chicken kebabs, green salad, and lemon sugar cookies. Guests will also have access to the tasting room. The package is $110 per person. Flat Creek Estate in Marble Falls, Texas is hosting an eclipse viewing party, which includes glasses, access to the property, and a commemorative wine glass. Music and wine pass is $35 per person (includes a glass of wine); picnic for two is $90 per couple; bistro 3-course wine lunch is $90 per person; and a guided wine tasting is $35 per person.
