Celebrate National Burrito Day (April 4, 2024) by grabbing a bodacious burrito at one of our favorite burrito joints across the great state of Texas. We’re not sure there’s such thing as a bad burrito. It’s kind of like pizza – even when it’s bad, it’s good! These are some of the best burritos we’ve stumbled across in the Lone Star State and we’re pretty sure you’re gonna’ love them too!
Cabo Bob’s / Multiple Locations Across Austin, Houston, and San Antonio
With locations in Austin, Houston, and San Antonio, it’s easy to find a Cabo Bob’s near you. Choose from steak burritos, brisket burritos, pork burritos, chicken burritos, fish burrito and more. There’s even a 17-veggie burrito for an over-the-top vegetarian option.
El Primo Burrito Factory / Dobie Food Court, 2025 Guadalupe St, #244, Austin
Located in South Austin at the University of Texas at Austin, the family-owned El Primo Burrito Factory is famed for its delicious $8 burritos. Three siblings opened El Primo in 2004 and it’s been going strong ever since. They don’t only serve burritos. You’ll find loads of Tex-Mex fare on the menu.
Freebirds World Burrito / Multiple Locations Across Texas
Freebirds World Burrito has multiple locations across Texas, and you’ll be glad they do! To celebrate National Burrito Day (April 4, 2024), this burrito spot will sling $6 burritos all day long. Don’t miss their special “Claims to Fame” burritos, including The Big Steak on a spicy cayenne tortilla with cilantro lime rice, black beans, ranch hand steak, Monterey jack cheese, grilled corn salsa, pico de gallo, creamy jalapeno, and queso, of course. Juanita’s Tex-Mex Cantina / 180 Century Ct, Suite 140, College Station
Satisfy your love of all things Tex-Mex at Juanita’s Tex-Mex Cantina in College Station. It’s tucked right in the center of the action in Century Square, with a huge green space right out front. With Texas A&M at Juanita’s doorstep, it’s a favorite hot spot for professionals, couples, families, college students, and, well, anyone who loves to eat. Don’t miss the chicken cantina burrito with chicken tinga, refried black beans, rice, Mexican cheeses, onion, poblano, red bell pepper, fire-roasted corn, Chile con queso, pico de gallo, and serrano aioli. Las Palapas / Multiple locations across San Antonio
Las Palapas is a mainstay San Antonio eatery with authentic Tex-Mex fare. While it’s best known as a taco joint, don’t skip the burritos. They’re a must-try if you stop in for a visit. The Macho burrito is a 12” flour tortilla jam-packed with rice, refried beans, and your choice of meat. Choose from picadillo, beef or chicken fajita, carne guisada, or shredded chicken. Of all the stops in Marfa, one is a legendary location featuring a Texas treasure: Marfa Burrito! This spot is home to none other than the ‘Burrito Queen’ whose world-famous burritos have drawn fans like Matthew McConaughey and Anthony Bourdain. Marfa Burrito churns out unbelievable Texas-size tortillas made from scratch with sensational sauces. The flavor-packed pork asado burrito will take your tastebuds on a trip! Senor Burrito Company in Spring has 10 different authentic burritos on the menu and they’re all under $15! This unassuming Tex-Mex spot also dishes up a carne asada burrito bowl. The surf ‘n turf burrito is the best of both worlds – grilled steak and shrimp – packed with rice, pico de gallo, and chipotle mayonnaise.
