Food has a way of tying itself to the moments we never forget — family gatherings, celebrations, hard conversations, even the ordinary nights around the table. Long before we remember the recipe, we remember how it made us feel.
If you watch Goodtaste with Tanji, you know Chef Fernando Desa, the guy I’ve cooked with in the Goya Foods kitchens for nearly 10 years. But there’s a lot more to his story than what happens in the kitchen.
Before food, Fernando was actually headed toward a career in medicine. Somewhere along the way, life took a very different turn — one that eventually led him from family traditions and culture to baseball stadiums, television, and kitchens across America.
But what stayed constant through all of it was his heart for people…something I’ve witnessed firsthand.
