Goodtaste is here to help YOU get ready for the holidays and your next cheese board creation! I visit my friend Shelly Miles at San Antonio Living and share some easy cheese and wine pairings that will definitely impress your guests. Plus, I have a clever dip that you can make with leftover cheese from your fridge! Check out the full segment here.
Tanji’s Wine Picks & Pairings:
This first wine is the perfect goat cheese pairing: the Kunde Sauvignon Blanc. This wine is a fun party starter — it’s crisp, easy-sipping and a total crowd-pleaser. It adds a perfect contrast against the herbaceous and zesty goat cheese. $15
Sparkling pairs with just about anything including most cheese. So, when in doubt, choose bubbles! I picked the Gloria Ferrer Brut Sparkling Wine. On the nose you’ll smell pear and flowers with hints of toasty almond. On the tongue, bright citrus and apple with a creamy texture and a toasty finish. $18
Lighter cheeses, like provolone, pair great with lighter wines like this Count Karolyi Grüner Veltliner. This wine is very refreshing. It’s dry with the aroma of lemon and spices, and tastes of white peach, grapefruit, rose and apricot. $15
This one is another easy one to remember: bold cheese = bold wine. I’m pairing a blue cheese with the Juan Gil Jumilla Red Blend. Produced in Spain with Monastrell and Cabernet grapes, this big wine can stand up to a bigger cheese similarly to how you pair big wines to richer dishes. $17
A special thanks to News 4 WOAI San Antonio Living for all the fun! As always, all of these bottles (and the cheese!) can be found at your local H-E-B.
