Okay, so it’s all the buzz. Tweeting! Frankly, I had to be talked into joining the tweeters. Why in the world would anyone want to spend time all day ‘tweeting’ about what they were doing and furthermore, who cares so much about what others are doing that they would take the time to read those ‘tweets’ as they come in all day? Has someone figured out a way to get more than 24 hours out of a day—who has all this time? It’s exhausting.
My fascination and incomprehension of this new phenomenon led me to invite a well respected friend of mine to lunch. Donna Tuttle is a reporter for the San Antonio Business Journal and obviously, an accomplished Tweeter. Afterall, she signed up for my tweets. ☺
Over an incredible duck confit sandwich at Brasserie Pavil, Donna gave me the lowdown on how she uses Twitter. She categorizes her Twitter files…actually organizes them with a nifty tool called Tweetdeck.com that you can download for free. By the time we got around to ordering a cup of BP’s incredible French press coffee, it was all starting to make sense (maybe the caffeine was kicking in).
By the time we paid the bill, I was motivated, inspired. I want to be a prolific Tweeter. So, to those who follow, I’ll continue tweeting to you about my fun restaurant finds and bargain wine discoveries. By the time I get it down pat though, it’ll be time to learn about ‘the next big thing’ in staying connected. I feel a yawn coming on.
