If you haven’t had the chance to visit NAO in Pearl Brewery, now is the time to go. Known for their focus on authentic Latin American cuisine, NAO is the restaurant to try if you have a craving a little Latin spice… 😉
Recently the head chef, Geronimo Lopez, unveiled a new menu with Argentina at its heart. The Gaucho Kitchen is NAO’s way of celebrating the culture and cuisine of traditional Argentina. Their tasting menu comes with an appetizer, main course and a dessert, along with an all-Malbec wine tasting (rosé, reserve, and dessert) with each course.
Start things off with their Provoleta Asada & “Faina.” This is a chickpea flatbread topped with mixed greens, and sun dried tomatoes. Pair that with the Reginatto Sparkling Rosé – crisp and dry with a floral nose.
Next, the Chorizo & Mozarella Stuffed Chicken Breast and sweet corn “humita” tamal with grilled asparagus. This selection paired with a Malbec Reserve by Durigutti. This Malbec has a big, fruit forward note, which means it comes on strong but doesn’t last, so you can enjoy your chicken or steak without the flavor being overpowered by the wine.
Lastly, finish BIG with the Alfajores Porteños…delicate layers of coconut sable, dulce de leche and 70% chocolate ganache. Enjoy a goodnight glass of the Late Harvest Malbec, which pairs nicely with the Alfajores because it’s sweet (but not overbearingly) like that of an ice wine or similar dessert wines.
If the whole tasting menu is too much for your taste, order á la carte. Check out their menu here, and begin your tastebud tango through The Gaucho Kitchen! This menu is only available until March 7th, so try it while you can.
