The best way to Dad’s heart is through his tummy! Praise be for juicy burgers from Phil’s Icehouse, along with wines created especially for him…
Phil’s Icehouse is a classic in Austin. Let the kiddos run loose while you and Dad enjoy some awesome burgers and take advantage of discounted prices on draught beers and wines by the glass between 3-530pm.
Of course, any great burger starts with a great bun. Phil’s has some of the best gourmet buns I’ve tried anywhere!
A few of Phil’s standout burgers we featured this week on We Are Austin include…
The Brentwood Burger
A bacon cheeseburger topped with lettuce, tomato, sliced onions, pickles, mayo, mustard, 2 slices of bacon, and cheddar cheese on a toasted sourdough bun.
“78704” Burger
The south of the river burger is topped with Monterey Jack cheese, jalapeños, grilled onions, sliced avocado, and chipotle mayo on a toasted jalapeño cheese bun.
Jollyville Burger*

Bacon, egg, cheddar cheese, and a burger served between two slices of sourdough french toast. Plus maple syrup!!!
Our wine picks to pair keep Dad front and center on the mind, beginning with The Calling Pinot Noir – the top Pinot you can buy in the Russian River Valley. It came as a collaboration between Jim Nantz and Peter Deutsch and is a tribute to the winemakers’ fathers.
The#1 selling Cabernet under $20 in the entire state of Texas is Josh Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s made by Joseph Carr who crafted his wines to be bold, but unassuming and approachable in honor of his father.
This last selection is just plain good…and cheap! $8 sparkling sangria from Yellow Tail that comes with its own self-closing cap!
