I’ve been visiting Fredericksburg and the Texas Hill Country for years, but somehow I missed this gem…something you don’t want to do too.
The Cotton Gin Village is made up of 7 unique cabins ‘imported’ from Kentucky and Tennessee. Each is creatively decorated with charming antiques, but they didn’t forget to make them comfortable. You’ll love the cushy big leather sofas, cute small kitchens and yes, at the end of a long day of shopping and tasting Texas wines you can unwind in a Jacuzzi tub.
Then, head across the courtyard garden to dinner – you never have to get in your car. The Cabernet Grill is right on site and has delicious food. I enjoyed the Texas Quail that’s stuffed with a jalepeno and then wrapped in bacon! Plus, the restaurant boasts the biggest Texas wine list in the world.
Chef Ross Burtwell, the owner and chef, is a not a native Texan (we forgive him), but I’m sure glad he made his way here. You’ll like him too, and you’ll not only enjoy this charming bed and breakfast, you’ll crave a helping of his chicken fried pecan pie when you get back home. I did!
