Introducing an impressive selection of traditional Tex Mex favorites, and some very creative fusion items under one roof. El-Toro is top dog in Baytown, Texas. This place has it all! Since 1960, this Mexican restaurant continues to make its mark with the “highest quality food, starting with the finest ingredients and best service available.”
Come for the cuisine, and stay for the Cancun-like atmosphere. No kidding! On those warm summer evenings, the enormous outdoor patio has you covered with plenty of ceiling fans and a mystic waterfall that makes you feel as though you’ve been transported to a remote island somewhere. Not to mention El-Toro’s frozen beer and tequila dispenser…keeping your beverages at a frigid (yet precise) 28 degrees at all times.
With Cinco de Mayo on its way, you’ll want to take advantage of one special in particular: the street taco platter. Get your fix with more than a few traditional favorites, from mouthwatering pulled pork to BBQ, chicken and beef fajitaa. That’s five fully loaded tacos for just over $10:
Let’s talk about their salads. I’m a big fan of the colossal Shrimp & Mango Salad. Large Gulf shrimp and sweet mango on top of a crispy tortilla chip with mixed greens, black beans, red peppers, and tomatoes. All of this tossed with El-Toro’s signature Margarita Vinaigrette dressing.
You also don’t see this at your typical Tex Mex spot…Seared Ahi Tuna Salad with sliced Ahi Tuna aside mixed greens, seasonal fruit, avocado, jicama, and toasted sesame. Once again it was with the Margarita Vinaigrette — very fresh with a lot of flavors that really popped off the plate.
