I can’t think of a better way to start the New Year than with a glass of bubbly – some traditions should never change. The H-E-B at Montrose Market sells more sparklings and champagne than any other H-E-B store in Houston! More bubbles happen here than anywhere else…
Wine Manager Mary Busby shared her favorites to uncork for your next fun get-together – two domestic as an entry from France. Rack & Riddle was the first we sampled: creamy, fruit-driven and well-balanced California Brut. Around $20 a bottle.
Toast is also from California, 100% Chardonnay, and created using the same method as champagne from France. It’s dryer and crisper than you might expect, but one I really liked.
Bissinger & Co., along with many of the Champagne houses in France has a fascinating history, dating all the way back to 1845! It has a lovely creaminess to it, and still a fair price at $39.98 — one that Mary is particularly partial to.

I had the Toast, Butter & Jam while visiting the Paso Robles wine region in October. The Butter & Jam is a must try!
