Fun new wines for the month of February are at H-E-B. There’s some names you may recognize, and two in particular that caught my eye right away…
The first: Halter Ranch’s Rosé (2013 vintage below). It’s a crisp and dry blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Picpoul Blanc. You’ll taste raspberry, cherry flavors…there’s a lot of tropical fruit on the nose. Talk about an awesome Paso Robles wine for our unpredictable Texas weather. Try pairing with some barbecue or perhaps seafood paella. $19
The Spitfire Sauvignon Blanc from Kim Crawford out of New Zealand is a new release. Some nice complex passion fruit and ripe citrus flavors on this one. You’ll taste the grapefruit and gooseberry present. We recommend enjoying with baked salmon, tempura…maybe some fishes & chips. It’s also great all by itself! $25
Our final selection is a Match Book Tempranillo. This one was particularly interesting! It has a nice earthy, leathery characteristic to it. Flavors of spicy tobacco, blueberry and mocha. Enjoy this California red with grilled venison or something gamey. $15
