Go ahead and kick off tailgate season with Wine Manager Mary Busby at the H-E-B Montrose Market. Any wine questions you have, I’ll wager she’s got answers! Mary truly takes the time to get to know your taste, so you leave with just the right bottle(s) for the occasion… 🙂
No matter how darn hot it may get in South Texas, the number #1 best selling wine in her department is still domestic red wine. Mary pulled a few of her current favorites for us to try as we head into fall!
Tempranillo grapes loves the heat – you may have guessed we grow a lot of Tempranillo in Texas. The Tempranillo de Canforrales is a Spanish Tempranillo with nice spice and great fruit flavoring for under $12. It’s light, always oaked and usually blended.
This red wine used to be exclusive to Central Market…not anymore! The Rule is 100% Napa Valley Cabernet, not too heavy, for $20. A nice pairing for game day proteins or exotic cheeses.
I love Oregon Pinot Noirs. The Elouan is a sensational blend from many of the local area vineyards in Oregon to produce one really unique wine from the Wagner family (that’s the ‘Caymus’ Wagners). A bright, distinctive pinot at a more than friendly price…$22.99.
