I love getting into fall wines, even if the leaves on our trees don’t change! For my wine finds this week, I have an easy-drinking Sauvignon Blanc, a lighter-style Zinfandel, and a wonderful Cabernet Sauvignon with a heartwarming story!
Oberon Sauvignon Blanc 2015 Napa Valley
This easy drinking Sauvignon Blanc called Oberon is made by the very well-respected Michael Mondavi family. It’s from the Napa Valley, so it’s a bit rounder in mouth feel and flavor than its New Zealand counterparts. You’ll taste apples, melons, even a hint of passion fruit, which pairs beautifully with creamy cheeses, fish dishes even lightly spiced Thai food. It’s priced at around $17-20.
Boneshaker Special Selection Zinfandel 2014 Central Coast
This lighter style zinfandel is called Boneshaker, from the Lodi Region of California. You’ll still get the big fruit taste up front, like plums and boysenberries, but also some vanilla cream and dark chocolate. It’s a great wine for pepperoni pizza and good for anything on the grill, like barbecue! It’s priced at around $16.
Jamieson Ranch Vineyards Light Horse Cabernet Sauvignon
Last, but definitely not least is the Light Horse Cabernet by Jamieson Ranch. Not only is this a wonderful buy at around $16 a bottle, this wine has a heartwarming story! Proceeds from sales benefit children with autism by providing them therapy horses.
There’s a lot going on in Light Horse: berry, cassis, vanilla bean, even chocolate! It’s delicious all by itself!
As always, you can catch my fun wine finds every weekend on Goodtaste!
