Already 2018 is off to a super start, so why not add a few super foods to your diet? Trust me, none of these foods taste anything like “diet food.” With that, let’s get started!
Super Foods For A Super 2018
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil
It all starts with your cooking oil. I get asked all the time what kind of cooking oil I use and I always recommend Extra Virgin Olive Oil. My favorite is Goya Foods Extra Virgin Olive Oil because it has a fantastic taste. It was recently ranked by Consumer Reports as one of the best values for its price tag of only $5 a bottle. They even have a delicious organic version you’ll love, too! - Algae Oil
Another new trend in cooking is using algae oil, another great plant-based oil that’s packed with Omega-3 fatty acids and heart healthy. It has a high smoke point and it’s flavorless. I love Thrive’s Algae Oil at around $11 a bottle. - Ancient Grains
Ancient grains are another great super food to add to your diet. I love farro for its fiber and high protein content, which will keep you full for a long time. I even love it over salads! A fun new twist I’ve found is the Monograno Felicetti farro pasta. Farro will supply you with more than 10 different vitamins and minerals, including Niacin, Magnesium, Iron, Thiamine, and Zinc. - Fermented Foods & Probiotics
I’m adding more fermented foods this year, thanks to new research about the importance of maintaining a healthy gut. Gut health is linked to heart and brain health, disease prevention, and even our emotional health! And on that note, try a probiotic like acidophilus for helping you maintain gut health.
