Good things don’t need to be expensive, even when it comes to wine. If you’re hosting this holiday season and looking for quality wine that will impress your guests, but not depress your bank account, then give these 5 bottles a try. This week I visit my friends at CBS Austin and share my picks for impressive party wines that are easy on your budget. Watch the segment here.
My Wine Finds:
This is the season for sparkling wine! The Domaine Ste. Michelle Sparkling Rosé is crisp and dry with hints of strawberry and raspberry. It’s a great mid-range bottle that pleases just about everyone. $13
Next, is the 642 Maremma Toscana Rosso. This wine is made with six different grapes, like Cabernet and Shiraz – plus, it’s organic! This is a great pizza party wine. $15
The Juan Gil Monastrell from the Jumilla region of Spain is a delicious full-bodied wine. You’ll taste rich dark plums and boysenberries. This bottle is great with food or all by itself. $13
If you like Chardonnay, then you’re going to love the Louis Jadot Chateau Des Jacques Bourgogne. A mix of classic French and American styles, it’s a great wine to keep chilled for last-minute guests. $16
If you want to step it up a notch, check out the Girard Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa.
On the nose, you get leather, tobacco and cocoa, and you’ll taste vanilla, boysenberries and dark cherries. This would go nicely with blue cheese, a roasted rack of lamb or even a burger. $27
As always, thank you to our good friends at KEYE CBS Austin! You can find all of these wines at your local H-E-B or buy them online at HEB.com. Bonus: Get 10% off your entire purchase when you buy six or more bottles. Happy Holidays!
