Burgers plus an ice cold beer sounds like the perfect summer evening to us! What if I told you that you could enjoy one of the juiciest burgers in Texas while helping yourself to a wall of diverse local beers? At Oz Tap House in Austin this is a reality! I visited my friends at CBS Austin and shared what makes this spot so special, as well as WINE that pairs well with summer’s favorite food. Watch the segment here!
My Wine Finds:
If you’re enjoying a burger with jammy caramelized onions or homemade ketchup on top, a fruit-forward wine like the Layer Cake Pinot Noir or the Chandon California Brut Rosé would be great to sip alongside. Both have berry notes that will draw on the sweetness from the burger toppings. $13; $19
For a more classic burger with cheese, lettuce, onion, pickles and tomatoes, try a classic wine like Cabernet. I recommend the Columbia Crest H3 Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s fuller bodied so it will stand up to the rich, savory burger. $11
A more decadent burger with toppings like bleu cheese and bacon needs a big wine to compliment it. The Juan Gil Monastrell’s tannins and the big jammy profile work in partnership with the richness of the burger. $13
As always, thank you to our good friends at KEYE CBS Austin! You can find all of these wines at your local H-E-B or buy them online at HEB.com. Bonus: Get 10% off your entire purchase when you buy six or more bottles.
