We visit the Culinary Institute of America in San Antonio where aspiring chefs are crafting five-star meals. At Savor, the students gain hands-on experience in a professional kitchen while diners enjoy affordable three- and four-course meals. The food is impressive – think perfectly roasted chicken with foie gras-truffle-honey butter, mushrooms and white beans.
Next, is it a bar, a restaurant or a wine shop? It’s all three! We’ll head to banks of the Guadalupe River in Kerrville to a little cafe called Grape Juice. This spot pours and sells premium bottles of wine as the kitchen whips up inventive dishes like the “Crack-eroni” and Cheese – a cheesy macaroni concoction with jalapeño coleslaw, sriracha-glazed quail, queso fresco and “Sri-ranchy”, an addictive sauce of sriracha-spiked housemade ranch.
Then, we’ll head to Baytown for El Toro Mexican Restaurant, a cantina with a large, lush tropical patio. You’ll find all your Tex-Mex favorites here, like tacos, enchiladas and fajitas. Then, to wash it all down, order a Watermelon Margarita. It drinks like a spiked Agua Fresca – sweet watermelon puree mixed with tequila, tart lime juice and topped with tangy tajin.
Don’t miss out on all of the action (and incredible H-E-B wines).

TJ’s @ The Old Forge would love to have you visit our restaurant. We did communicate last year around March, but your shooting was done for the season. We would love to have you consider visiting our restaurant here in Bandera, TX . . . Cowboy Capital of the World!
