The secret to pairing pasta and wine? Look past the pasta and pay attention to the sauce! We’ve pulled together some of our favorite wines to sip alongside a bowl of saucy noodles. Read on for a few of our most pasta-friendly picks.
Domaine des Hospices de Belleville Brouilly
Say hello to this Brouilly from Joseph Drouhin, a crowd-pleaser for red and white wine fans alike! The bright cherry notes are balanced with nice acidity, making this a delightful wine with food. We like to serve it alongside juicy roasts and mushroom-filled pastas. ($16)
Josh Cellars Sonoma Reserve Chardonnay
Chardonnay is a classic pairing with cream-based pasta sauces, and we’re especially fond of the Josh Cellars Chardonnay. This wine pairs beautifully with creamy pasta dishes, chicken, and fish, and it’s also great all by itself. ($19)
Blazon Pinot Noir
If you’re in the mood for a hearty ragu, this Pinto Noir is for you! This particular bottle drinks bigger and richer than other Pinots, with a hint of subtle spice on the finish. ($11)
7 Deadly Zins Zinfandel
This Zin from Lodi is the perfect partner for a bowl of spaghetti and meatballs! Made from very old vines and bursting with flavors of berries and plums, this wine’s silken tannins and spice offer a welcome balance to tomato-based pastas. ($10)
Schloss Vollrads Qualitätswein Riesling
Rieslings are ultra food-friendly wines and this one is no exception. Because of its bright acidity, this wine will pair beautifully with a variety of pasta dishes, like something spicy or cream-based. ($19)
Becker Vineyards Provençal Rosé
Rosé pairs with just about anything, and one of Tanji’s go-to’s is from Becker Vineyards. This is a perfect choice for either red or white wine drinkers who want a more full-bodied sip with food. It’ll pair with pretty much any pasta type, from a light pesto to a rich mac and cheese. ($11)
