Whether you’re eating your bounty on the spot or bringing a basketful home for your favorite recipe, nothing beats the flavor of a fresh-from-the-vine berry. We’ve rounded up six u-pick farms to add to your list this spring.
1. Froberg’s Farm / Alvin

With roots going back to 1894, Froberg’s Farm is one of the sweetest stops you can make this strawberry season. Strawberry picking typically runs through late May, so there’s still plenty of time to fill your basket. But the berries are just the beginning! With year-round activities and fun for the whole family, you could easily make a full day of it. 2. Atkinson Farms / Spring

If you’re on the hunt for strawberries, Atkinson Farms in Spring is worth a visit. Beyond the berries, you’ll also find a wonderful selection of fresh-grown produce to take home. 3. Jenschke Orchards / Fredericksburg

Jenschke Orchards is known for their peaches, which they’ve been growing since the 1960’s. As a “Pick Your Own” orchard, they also grow strawberries, blackberries, pumpkins, and even Christmas trees. 4. Five Cousins’ Strawberry Patch / Poteet

No strawberry season is complete without a visit to the Strawberry Capital of Texas! Five Cousins’ Strawberry Patch in Poteet is a great option, but before you make the drive, give Will a call at 830-480-2060 for a fresh field report and to let him know you’re coming. 5. Sweet Berry Farm / Marble Falls

Sweet Berry Farm is a springtime must-visit, with pick-your-own strawberries typically available from March through mid-May. Best of all, there’s no admission or parking fee, you simply pay for what you pick. And while you’re there, stick around for the fun! 6. Pecan Creek Strawberry Farm / Pilot Point

Pecan Creek Strawberry Farm in Pilot Point operates on a first-come, first-served basis. The farm is open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. The parking lot opens at 9:00 a.m. with picking starting at 10:00 a.m., and they close up shop once they’re sold out. There’s no limit on how many berries you can pick, but availability is never guaranteed, so always check their social media pages for a field status update before you head out.
