Not only is it always a good idea to shop small — especially when it comes to our farmers, ranchers, and makers — but you’ll also come home with the freshest seasonal picks around. We’ve rounded up 12 markets across Texas worth the visit this season.

SAN ANTONIO AREA

Alamo Heights Farmers Market

225 E.Basse Rd / Sundays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Located at the Alamo Quarry Market, this producers-only market runs year-round. Every vendor is local to Texas, giving you the chance to meet the people who actually make your food. Boerne Farmers Market

157 S. Main St., Boerne / Tuesdays, 4-7 p.m.

In addition to locally grown produce, prepared foods, and artisan goods, Boerne Farmers Market offers something truly special: a monthly Kids Market. Held on the first Tuesday of each month, this dedicated space welcomes young entrepreneurs to sell their handmade products, homemade goods, or homegrown produce (with an adult or guardian by their side from setup to tear down). Pearl Farmers Market

200 E. Grayson St. Suite 203, San Antonio /  Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays

No trip to San Antonio is complete without a visit to Pearl. This charming historical district is home to some wonderful shops, restaurants and businesses, and the farmers market is a must-visit! Texas Farmers’ Market at Mueller

Mueller has been voted Austin’s favorite farmers market for 13 years straight. Barton Creek Farmers Market

2901 S. Capital of Texas Hwy., Austin / Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The OG of Austin farmers markets, Barton Creek started in 1987 and has been going strong ever since. The produce is often picked just hours before hitting the market. Located in the heart of Old Town Tomball, Tomball Farmers Market features up to 80 all-local vendors (with 20-28 farmers and ranchers within 180 miles of Tomball). To ensure that everything is truly grown by each farmer, the market goes the extra mile by doing farm visits. There’s so much to see and do at Dallas Farmers Market. What started small in 1941 has grown into a mixed-use market district with more than 200 small businesses, anchored by a weekly open-air farmers market in The Shed.
