Good things do come to those that wait, and now those of us who want to promote locally grown, healthy foods that are sustainably farmed can do just that! The Slow Food movement is now here in our neck of the woods.
Slow Food South Texas is part of Slow Food USA, a non-profit group that among other things works to spread the news about the importance of responsible farming… taking care of the land so that future generations and ours will enjoy healthy foods.
Slow Food South Texas’ first event is a tapas-style dinner at the San Antonio Botanical Garden on Sunday, November 6 at 6 p.m. Texas food producers are the stars along with some of SA’s top chefs.
You can buy tickets online at www.slowfoodsouthtexas.org and at Melissa Guerra’s at The Pearl and The Cove Restaurant. Proceeds will be used for school and community gardens and food education.
Hope to see you there!
