Highly buzzworthy and out now, the champions of the 2014 Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo have arrived at H-E-B. Take your pick of any of the top earners like this year’s Grand Champion Best of Show, the Guado al Tasso of Bolgheri, Italy.
This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc yields a smooth, velvety red wine well deserving of the crown. If you’re a Pinot Noir fan, the Reserve Grand Champion Best of Show this year is an estate bottled Pinot from the Russian River Valley…Sonoma-Cutrer. The price point is around $30 for this lovely offering.
Another top red wine to watch for is Gran Clos of Priorat, Spain. Earthy, spicy and a stellar match for any grilled meats, complex stews…even heartier seafood! For the ‘European wine lover’ in you, it’s a star.
Perhaps the best value at the rodeo this year comes from this quality release by Lake County. Vigilance is great with any BBQ (or try it as your picnic wine) and certainly a steal at only $11!
Remember to visit the renown Wine Garden this year at the rodeo, where you’ll encounter even more gold or double gold medal winners to sample. H-E-B has them all, many of which are already Primo Picks, under $30.
Six or more bottles continues to net you 10% off your total purchase – a nice incentive to stock up on these award-winners while they’re still available. 🙂
