So many parties…so much to choose from during Fiesta. Why not spend some of those Fiesta $$ on our city’s children!
A Taste of the Northside, Wednesday at the Club at Sonterra, is not only a fun event with tons of great food and drinks but also an opportunity to help some amazing children and their hero parents.
I spent a morning recently at the Brighton Center, sponsors of A Taste of the Northside. As the news media gathered outside the school for our announcement of A Taste of the Northside, I couldn’t help but notice that inside darling faces were pressed against the school windows… full of curiousity about what we were doing.
What those precious children didn’t know is that we were all there for them – working to get the word to San Antonians about how important they are to us all.
You see, the Brighton Center is a special haven for children with disabilities and their parents. When we have healthy kids, I think it’s easy to take the simple things in life for granted like going to the grocery store, taking the kids to a movie or even taking a shower in peace.
I’m a huge believer that kids with special needs offer a very special kind of love, and I think parents of these children would agree. These parents are blessed in ways we cannot imagine, but they are also stressed in ways we’ll never be able to understand.
All of the dollars raised at A Taste of the Northside benefit these incredible families by funding the needed programs the Brighton Center offers.
I hope to see you there Wednesday evening. General admission tickets are available at HEB for $45. I’ll be hosting a special VIP room at the Sontera Country Club featuring dishes from the chefs of San Antonio’s finest restaurants with special wine pairings for $250 per ticket. And again, all proceeds benefit the beautiful smiling faces from Brighton.
