This is one of my favorite Mexican food spots in the Houston area. I fell for their Puffy Queso back in high school! The first Los Tios opened in southwest Houston in 1970. Through the years, this small chain has become a family tradition handed down over generations. Favorite tables, favorite waiters and naturally, favorite dishes have become rituals with Houstonians who have named Los Tios “Houston’s Best Tex-Mex!”
Feast your eyes on one of my favorite things to order…their Puffy Queso [above]. It’s Los Tios’ famous puffy crispy shell smothered with our fresh chile con queso. While I don’t have the recipe for this dish – I walked away with some others! Check it out…
Shrimp Enchiladas — Covered w/ cream sauce & melted cheese. Served w/ avocado, pico de gallo & charro beans.
Fish Tacos — Two of Los Tios’ famous fish tacos with avocado and raspberry sauce and served with Mexican rice and charro beans and pico de gallo.
Pechuga Rellena — Stuffed and grilled chicken breast served with Mexican rice and grilled vegetables. Serve plain or covered with cream sauce.

I’d really like to know how to make the taco puff up like that?
Any chance you could get their frozen margarita receipe? They rock. Get a “meltdown” (Patron floated pn the top) and they really rock,
as a native Houstonian, I’ve been to Los Tios forever! We love it and make it a must have every trip…and the best thing about it, it’s very close to the house! thanks for posting the recipes!
The “puffy tacos” are unforgettable! Nothing compares.
Can’t wait to get back to Houston and have another one!
