If you’re looking for something totally unique for dinner, look no further than Sway in Austin! When I first tried Sway in Austin, I was immediately hooked. There’s something about Thai food that’s just so alive! We recently featured Sway Thai food in Austin during our third season of Goodtaste with Tanji (view here), where we got to meet the amazing Executive Chef Charles Schlienger and experience this wildly popular restaurant.
Since it’s Lent, I thought I’d show you some of Sway’s meat-free options and sensational seafood offerings. I’ve also included a few new wine finds that go great with spicy food and seafood.
I’m a big fan of the Prawn Miange with Betel leaf, toasted coconut, toasted cashew, lime, fresno chile and grapefruit (above). Those seeking something gluten-free or vegetarian can opt for the Squash Curry with butternut squash, kabocha squash, tofu, tomato, roasted cauliflower, miso and cashew butter (below). The Salt and Pepper Prawns as well as the Salt and Pepper Tofu are such simple dishes, but Sway packs so much flavor into them.
My wine finds this week are all about tempering some of the spice. You can find all of them at H-E-B!
My Wine Finds
Deor Cuvée the Gold Collection – $12
McPherson Old Vine Chenin Blanc – $18
The Crossings Sauvignon Blanc – $12
Schloss Vollrads Estate Riesling – $15
Special thanks to my friends at We Are Austin on KEYE CBS Austin for helping me try these out!
