In case you haven’t left the air-conditioned comfort of your home recently (hey, we wouldn’t blame you), Texas is in the middle of a pretty mean heat wave. What a better way to cool off than with an ice cold, boozy drink? Whether you’re sweating it out in San Antonio, Austin or Houston, here are 6 of my favorite frozen drinks to keep you nice and cool through September.
Eight Row Flint is the place to go for incredible and super-fun frozen drinks. Their frothy frosé, or frozen rosé, is my go-to drink because of its peachy-pink color and aromatic basil garnish. Bonus: The bustling Heights bar is also dog-friendly, so while you’re getting your “Rosé all day” fix, you can still hang out with your favorite furry friend.

The Pastry War, from cocktail geniuses Bobby Heugel and Alba Huerta, mixes up a frozen Margarita de la Casa with Blanco tequila, fresh key and Persian lime juice, agave and a rim of citrus salt. This mezcaleria knows their agave spirits: they’re consistently named as having the best margaritas in Houston and have an always popular $5 margarita happy hour.
When in the Alamo City, I never miss a visit to both Boudro’s and Zinc on the Riverwalk for their iconic frozen Prickly Pear Margarita. Watch the barges float down the historic river while snacking on their famous tableside guacamole and enjoying this tequila-spiked, vibrant pink drink.

Head on down to one of San Antonio’s newest hangouts, the Pearl Brewery, and enjoy the expansive shaded patio at Down on Grayson. Sip on a frozen, extra-gingery Moscow Mule while hiding from the sun under a canopy of trees and striped canvas umbrellas. Now that sounds like a pretty perfect afternoon to me.

This gorgeous, floral cocktail at King Bee Lounge, truly is the Bee’s Knees. The classic drink, made with gin, fresh lemon juice and a healthy dose of honey, gets a modern makeover with the help of a frozen slushy machine. Trust us, it’s worth all the buzz. Also not to be missed: their thin-crust, square-cut pizza piled with gooey cheese and all of your favorite toppings.

Chill out at the Violet Crown Social Club with their frozen Orange Whip. Located right off of the infamous (or famous, depending on how your last visit went) 6th street, this drink tastes like a Creamsicles of your childhood and is only $4.
