This weekend, Goodtaste travels across the state sampling sensational steak, fajitas, barbecue, and all things Texas!
Rick’s Chophouse is McKinney’s first four-star restaurant, which has all the amenities and first-class service you’d expect from a premier dining room, yet it feels as comfortable as your own living room. The sea bass served with citrus butter and chili oil will convince you you’re in a top-tier city of the world, as well as the phenomenal filet and lobster. Owner Rick Wells is on a mission with his restaurant to not only feed his community, but to lift them up, too; some of his passions include supporting local farmers and ranchers, repurposing land by growing produce in an old baseball field, and supplying fresh produce to those experiencing food insecurity.
When it comes to great Tex-Mex, Texans could build a shrine to the almighty fajita! Since few dishes can make your taste buds sizzle quite like fajitas, we journey across the state to bring you some of the very best, beginning with the fajita’s birthplace in Houston. Then we head over to Austin and to an unforgettable spot in Lubbock in search of these mighty good eats. And we find them!
In the Houston suburb of Katy, diners are discovering Pearl & Vine—a dazzling, impeccably designed, family-owned restaurant with a Culinary Institute of America chef leading the charge. With something for everyone, the menu varies from Wagyu Beef with Fried Lobster to Apple Pie Bread Pudding. Just make sure to order the Elote Caesar Salad topped with Mexican street corn and cornbread croutons.
Top off the week with this episode’s H-E-B wine finds!
