How do you like your brisket? Lean and smoky or tender and juicy? Either way, you know you can find it in Texas. I got to join some friends of mine on their “Texas BBQ Road Trip” recently. It was a 10 hour road trip that began north of Austin and ended in between Houston and San Antonio. These guys know BBQ. Dale Blasingame was one of my producers at WOAI back in the day, and now he and two friends are touring Texas searching for the Best BBQ anywhere. I caught up with Dale and crew in Luling where we tried some tasty sausage, brisket and ribs. Check out the video to see their top picks for BBQ in Texas! Let me know what you think….who has the best BBQ?

Salt Lick is great, but the guys all voted on where they wanted to go and it didn’t make the cut. It might make it for the next trip 🙂

Without a doubt, Luling BBQ ranks right up there at the top! When my south Texas rancher parents would regularly come to our ranch in Fredericksburg, their “date” stop was always at Luling BBQ. They enjoyed it so much! They have both now passed, but my hubby and I carry on the tradition when making road trips to visit family.

Of the ones that were tasted, I would have to agree with Kat. Lulling is a home run. Plus if you go during the watermelon Thump, you’ll be back in the Texas written in the true history books
