What’s cooking?! Whatever it may be, at least you will have the perfect bottle to accompany it. As always, you can find these bottles at your local H-E-B.
Up first, the Finca el Origen Reserva Torrontés. I love the aroma on this one — you’ll smell ripe peaches and even a hint of roses. On the palate, you’ll get bright zesty flavors of white peach and lemon. It pairs well with spicy foods and also with chicken and fish. $10
Next, we’re going red with a Bodega Norton Bodega Barrel Select Malbec. You’ll taste dark fruits like cherries, blackberries and plums with slight black pepper notes. Malbecs are great wines for grilled meats or for drinking on their own as you sit in front of a fire. $12
Speaking of wines that are good all by themselves, that is exactly what the Clone 7 Oakville Cabernet is. You’ll taste the fruit up front — lots of big cherries with hints of oak and vanilla. The tannins are smooth, so if you do want to pair it with meat, it’s a nice wine to serve alongside grilled meats or a peppery brisket. $30
