February is National Heart Month, and we’re celebrating by sharing some heart-healthy takes on our go-to winter food: Soup! It’s comforting, versatile, and so easy to make. Whip up a big pot of Garlic Broth and bring it to a sick friend in need or keep a pot of Tomato Barley Soup simmering on the stove for a help-yourself kind of dinner. Not only can these recipes be made in advance, they are good for you and are an easy way to feed the whole family.
Tomato Barley Soup with Herb-Roasted Chickpeas
Tomatoes are packed with lycopene, a powerful antioxidant that keeps your heart healthy and reduces inflammation. In addition to tomatoes, this vegan-friendly soup from Grateful Grazer is packed with foods that are good for your heart, such as barley and chickpeas. Both help lower cholesterol.
Simple Cream of Broccoli Soup
Broccoli makes up the bulk of this silky soup from the Food Network. The powerful vegetable is loaded with fiber and good vitamins and nutrients. It’s also proven to reduce bad cholesterol. Don’t worry about the cream: Potato helps thicken this soup, so you only use ½ cup of cream across four servings.
Garlic Broth
Garlic is our go-to natural remedy for whatever ails us. In addition to helping cure the common cold, this powerful allium can also reduce your risk of heart disease and lower your blood pressure. Try it out in this beyond-simple recipe for garlic broth from Bon Appetit Magazine. Sip this nourishing broth while you’re working away at your desk or use it as a base for a robust chicken noodle soup.
Curried Potato and Lentil Soup
Beans and legumes have been proven to reduce bad cholesterol when incorporated into your diet. They reduce blood pressure and inflammation, both of which can lead to heart disease. This recipe from the Minimalist Baker is packed with lentils as well as heart-healthy and fiber-rich kale and sweet potato.
Green Goddess Immune Boosting Soup
The View from Great Island describes this super-green soup as “the cold weather equivalent to your power smoothie.” From the winter greens to the broccoli to the seeds, this soup is loaded with foods that do amazing work for your heart, in addition to your overall health.

It is 9th of April 2021. I watched you show at 5;30 am and the host showed a roasted chicken soup that I would like the recipe but I cannot find it. Can you help me find the recipes from this episode. I believe it was a Christmas episode cause she wished us merry Christmas. I hope you can help me. Thank you.
