JACK ALLEN’S KITCHEN
Up the road in Austin, weird is wonderful — but so is the food! From the Alamo City to the Capital City, we saved you a seat at one of our favorite spots for locally soured eats in ATX, Jack Allen’s Kitchen. Captain Jack aka Chef Jack Gilmore is known for his big voice, big heart and, yes, big hair!
We’ll teach you how to make his popular, border-inspired enchiladas at home. They’re super easy and fast. Served in a cast iron skillet for a presentation that sizzles:
CARACOL
Then, Uptown in H-town – creative cocktails and Gulf seafood like you’ve never seen before! Welcome to Caracol, one of the area’s hottest restaurants from Executive Chef Hugo Ortega. A modest man with a fascinating backstory, Chef Ortega is a joy to watch at work. His Mexican coastal kitchen fires on all cylinders!
Be on the lookout for the recipe to one of Chef’s signature entrées, the Callo de Hacha. Pan seared jumbo scallops on a bed of Poblano sauce with roasted cauliflower and wild mushrooms…
