Hope you brought an appetite! We’re headed to the best restaurants in San Antonio, Houston, Austin and all parts in between! Catch Goodtaste with Tanji this weekend, June 18-19, in select cities. Showtimes below! On deck-
COOKHOUSE
Bourbon Street flavor is bubbling up inside Cookhouse in San Antonio. Owners Pieter and Susan Sypesteyn have ties to the Crescent City and serve up sizzling plates of what they know best…authentic Cajun and Creole with soul! We’re talking butter-drenched, Charbroiled Oysters, fresh catch Redfish on the Half Shell and, of course, their famous New Orleans BBQ Shrimp featuring Chef Pieter’s secret BBQ butter sauce.
Stick around for the recipe to the shrimp, including that sensational sauce, this weekend!
1856 TAVERN
We’re rounding up some of the best grub in the Cowboy Capital of the World! After a long day on the ranch, hungry locals head over to the 1856 Tavern for unexpected entrées like the inch-thick NY Strip, plus a full bar.
Whether you’re a cowboy all the time, or just for the day, there’s always a delicious meal waiting for you at the Tavern. The owner, a 4th generation restauranteur, traded in the hustle and bustle of Houston for a tamer pace in the Texas Hills – a decision he surely doesn’t regret! Amazing appetizers like the Fried Asparagus, lightly breaded and topped with lump crab in a butter sauce, tease a menu that’s a bit unexpected for a small country town. 😉
SAGE 400
‘Roll’ on over to Uptown for sushi, sashimi and so much more from one of the top Japanese chefs in H-Town! Sage 400 is celebrating 11 years at the top of its game; an Asian bistro run with heart by a brother and sister whose passion it is to bring customers a true Japanese dining experience. That means using only the freshest quality ingredients, while providing very personalized service.
The food is fantastic, beginning with a plethora of unique rolls you won’t find anywhere else. Sushi not your thing? Don’t pass on the Steamed Sea Bass – arguably the best I’ve had in the city! Silky, melt-in-your-mouth perfection. Then there’s creative concoctions like this sake sea urchin martini – the Uni Shooter – reserved for the most adventurous of palates:
